HELPING YOU FIND COMMON GROUND

Jill Cohen, Esq. and Kelly Leider, Esq.

Looking for a better way to resolve family matters?

At Cohen Leider LLP, we help you navigate separation and divorce, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and other family matters in a non-adversarial way. With our knowledge and experience, we guide you through the process, reducing the emotional and financial stress while helping you reach creative, thoughtful and informed decisions that work for everyone involved.

HOW WE CAN HELP

We support individuals and couples in navigating the legal aspects
of family matters in a
non-adverserial way.

Divorce Mediation

The end of a relationship can be emotionally difficult, often accompanied by disappointment and resentment. However, it doesn’t have to lead to an expensive, adversarial legal battle. With a collaborative mindset, it’s possible to part ways amicably and with integrity. When both parties are willing to work together, we can help identify the issues, explain the law, understand what matters most to each person, and help you reach a thoughtful solution that meets everyone’s needs.

Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements

Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements are an opportunity for couples to build a strong foundation for the future, offering clarity and peace of mind. Without these agreements, the law decides how assets, debts will be divided and what support should be if the marriage ends. By creating a personalized agreement, you and your partner can ensure that your individual needs and wishes are respected. As a mediator or collaborative attorney, we will guide you through the process with care, helping you address concerns and find solutions that work for both of you.

Collaborative Law and Consulting Attorney Services

We offer consulting attorney services during mediation to ensure you understand your legal rights and options. Whether you're reviewing an agreement or seeking guidance on negotiation strategies, we provide the support you need in a non-adversarial way. In the collaborative law process, we work as part of a team, offering legal guidance alongside financial and mental health experts to help you reach a resolution that works for your family. For those who need limited legal assistance, we provide unbundled services, such as preparing court forms or offering advice on specific issues.

ABOUT US

Meet Jill Cohen

Jill started her family mediation and collaborative law practice over 20 years ago based on her interest in helping people find a better way to resolve disputes affecting them personally. Jill seeks to understand the needs and interests of her clients, and to identify creative solutions that work for both parties. Jill brings this philosophy and experience of finding common ground to her work as a mediator and collaborative attorney.

Prior to becoming a mediator, Jill worked on corporate transactions, first as an associate at a prominent law firm in New York, then as an in-house corporate attorney, and then as a Vice President for Business development at Citigroup.  Jill received an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Tufts University and a law degree and MBA from Columbia University. Her experience in the corporate arena, combined with her educational background in mathematics and business, make her comfortable and well-versed in understanding and discussing complicated financial situations which are often part of divorce settlements and other matters.

Kelly’s unique background in both law and mediation allows her to help clients resolve conflicts thoughtfully and without the stress of an adversarial legal process.

Kelly always knew she wanted to work with families and practice family law in a more constructive and forward-thinking way. She began her legal career in Montreal and soon transitioned into mediation and collaborative law, drawn to approaches that prioritize resolution over conflict. In 2015, she began working with Jill to offer a more peaceful, solution-focused way to resolve family matters.
